If a leaf falls in the forest...I wish I could see it from my basement office.

Inasmuch as we've got a tight-knit little community going, and several of you have emailed me off-blog, asking what's up.... My current plan is to revive SHAMblog after the weekend. Because one doesn't want to succumb to that latter-day confessionalist mindset that seems to demand that people make an open book of all facets of their lives, going public with each and every episode and emotion in turn, I'll simply say this: It's been a rough week on many fronts.

To those of you who've been dutifully checking each morning to see if there's any new content, I offer my deep gratitude. I hope to reward your patience--to the extent that anything I post here can be construed as a "reward." In the meantime, enjoy this lovely fall weekend.

Get out into the autumn; it will do a lot more for your state of mind than Dr. Joe's h'onoponokonmonoroseannrosannadonna.* Besides, the short, chill days of winter are not far behind.

* Consider that my first and last tidbit of "self-help" advice.

You are so lucky to have a basement office, Steve. I miss basements (spent my early childhood in Wyoming, Montana, Colorado). In fact I spent a lot of time by myself in the basement as a child, reading and contemplating the state of the world. Or my world, anyway. Maybe that's why I grew up so weird...

Now I'm here in the semi-tropics, where we don't have basements but we do have extended summers that sometimes last until late November. One can wear flip-flops just about all year round, if one is so inclined (and I am so inclined, being the shoe-hating woman that I am).

Today, however, it's chilly and kind of gloomy in the Bayou City...not flip-flop weather at all. Nevertheless I am sure the Rev and I will find something to enjoy about the day.

And I am so glad you are planning to continue your blog. I think that's a good decision. I hope you have a great, Ho'annoying-free weekend!

I've been looking for the Hawaiian word for "Give me your money so I can buy a bigger yacht"! As always, your blog is a cornucopia of helpful information :)

Glad you're back/hope all is well. Or better at least.

The fall scenery you depict is beautiful. My wish for you is peace this weekend and beyond. I am sorry about your difficult week.
