'A step-by-step guide to reading step-by-step guides.'

So today I get an email* from a guy named Steve Olsher, who describes himself as "the author of Journey To You: A Step-by-Step Guide to Becoming Who You Were Born to Be."

My question: But isn't that who and where we are definition?

* Actually, it was a notification of a comment he'd left on my review of The Pow-errrrr, but it arrived via email, so for all practical purposes it's the same thing.

If it's any comfort, Steve, I voted this guy's comment "unhelpful" on the Amazon discussion. :-)

Steve -

Didn't I tell you? I'm writing a new book:
Journey Away from Yourself: A Step-by-Step Guide to Undoing the Person Who You've Allowed Yourself to Become."

Can I send it to you for a blurb?

Renee: Luv it! (as the agents are wont to say--before they give you 109 reasons why it can't sell without major revisions). Which is why--in my finest agent style--I propose a slight tweak to your concept that I think I "luv" even better:

Journey Away from Yourself: A Step-by-Step Guide to Maximizing Who You Aren't!

Dr Christopher Hyatt and Israel Regardie pipped Renee to the self-publishing by doing a whole series of books and tapes on 'Undoing Yourself, for the Extreme Individual.'

I've never been sure how much of this was tongue-in-cheek and how much faith the authors put into their presentation. I'm willing to bet, however, that Hyatt and Regardie felt that same ambivalence.
